Where can I find information about internships, fellowships and jobs at the National Transportation Library?

Answer

Announcements concerning internships and employment opportunities at the National Transportation Library and Bureau of Transportation Statistics are available at https://www.bts.gov/jobs

Student Programs at the US Department of Transportation are listed at https://www.transportation.gov/careers/student-programs-dot

Recent graduates interested in fulltime employment at the National Transportation Library will also find job openings listed on USA Jobs  https://www.usajobs.gov

The National Transportation Library participates in the following programs that offer paid positions to students and recent graduates:

The STIPDG internship program is a unique opportunity for graduate students in library and information science to get hands-on experience in public service while learning more about transportation challenges and advancements. The National Transportation Library mentors 1-2 student interns for 10 weeks every summer. Projects focus on digital preservation, data curation, and human computer interaction. The application period for STIPDG internships typically opens in December and closes at the end of January.

ORISE connects recent graduates in library and information science, and related disciplines, with available fellowships at the National Transportation Library. Positions are for 1 to 3 years. After training across the department, fellows work in an area of their choice: data curation, digital preservation, data visualization, outreach, or reference services. Fellowship opportunities become available at irregular intervals.

Unpaid, for-credit opportunities are available to highly motivated students in relevant academic disciplines.  Contact us via https://transportation.libanswers.com/ if you would like to discuss a capstone project or practicum.  We can supervise this type of work remotely.
