Where can I find statistics on the number of licensed drivers?

Please see the Federal Highway Administration's Highway Statistics Series: annual reports containing analyzed statistical information on driver licenses, and other variables. This information is presented in tables as well as selected charts. It has been published annually since 1945.
The US DOT does not track driver statistics on the local level (city, county, etc.). Contact Departments of Motor Vehicles at the State level for more detail.
