Q. How do I check out a moving company?

Answer

For information on what you can expect from a moving company, see the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration web site "Protect your move."  This site gives summaries of your rights as a consumer, instructions on how to file a complaint against a moving company, etc.: http://www.protectyourmove.gov/

To check a moving company’s registration information and complaint history, go to http://ai.volpe.dot.gov/hhg/search.asp

You may also wish to check their status with the Better Business Bureau: http://www.bbb.org
