Q. Airline Fleet Size Statistics

Answer

You can obtain airline fleet size data by aircraft type at this Federal Aviation Administration web site:  http://av-info.faa.gov/OpCert.asp?SrchBy=Name

BTS aircraft inventory data from Form 41, Schedule B-43 - Inventory of Airframes and Aircraft Engines is available by carrier for 2006-2009 at http://www.transtats.bts.gov/DL_SelectFields.asp?Table_ID=314&DB_Short_Name=Air Carrier Financial. These tables show the year each aircraft began service, serial number, tail number, whether the aircraft is owned or leased, operating status, number of seats, make/model, capacity, and acquisition date. Please note that most carriers have requested confidential treatment for their airframe cost data.

2010 and 2011 (most current) data is currently not available in TranStats. If you are interested in that, or data from previous years, please see the attached files (1992-2005, 2010-11).
