Q. State Laws on Trains Blocking Highway Crossings

Answer

According to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), there are no federal regulations on how long a train can block a crossing, but most states do have such regulations. Your state code should say what the time limit is for blocking roads. The code may be available on the web; if not, your local library should be able to find it either in print or in a commercial online database.

Findlaw is a good place to start looking for your state code.
